If one wants to totally relax in a healthy environment, one of the 3 natural
health spas, reachable within a 50 km range from the camping, are the
solution: : Le Terme di Vinadio situated in the green Stura valley, le
Terme di Valdieri once the royal health spa, situated in the Gesso valley;
and the Terme di Lurisia in the Pesio valley.
Bicycle turism
There are very many possibilities for outings by bicycle; whether you
want to ride in the mountains or you want to stay on “flatland’
, the possibilities are plenty and all this starting right outside the
camping.
Excursions and Walks
For walkers of any level, there are plenty possibilities.
Natureparc Ciciu-Park
“Ciciu” means puppet in the regional dialect. The puppets
are the result of a geological phenomenon, thousands of years old, that
caused the formation of these gigantic masses. Because of the weight of
the boulders on those parts of the land, the water that came down from
the mountains, was unable to wash away the ground underneath these boulders.
Some of these puppets measure up to 10 meters in height.
Safariparc van Murazzano
The safari park is situated in the town of Murazzano, located close the
beautiful city of Alba. The park hosts lions, tigers, elephants and many
more animals, which roam freely. Experience a day in close contact with
wildlife.
Markets, Bazars and SAGRE
If you want to spend a day filled with culture, you can do so by visiting
the many churches, castles, museums and monuments in your direct vicinity.
Each and every one of these has its own story to tell.
Culture manifestaties
There are many cultural manifestations in the Cuneo region, not to miss
are the weekly markets of Dronero, Busca, Caraglio and especially on Tuesday,
the daymarket in Cuneo.
Parasailing en Deltaflying
For the enterprising tourist and lover of excitement, there is the possibility
to fly in the sky above camping Villar, with the use of Parasail material.
The landing track is situated a a few hundred meters behind the camping,
while the take-off spot is located about 1600 meters above the camping.
Canooing
The Stura River, especially the part between Moiola and Roccasparvera,
is very interesting for those with a passion for canoeing. For all waterlovers,
the canoe centers of the Stura Valley, offer numerous possibilities; accompanied
by qualified instructors one can try out Rafting, Tubbing, Hot-Dogging,
Kayak-Rafting and Canoe-Kayak.
Horseriding
A ring of stages covers the whole Maira Valley, this way one can enjoy
nature in a sporty way, enjoying the surroundings, known as one of the
most beautiful and well-preserved areas of Piemonte, a territory rich
in culture, art, history and tradition.
Turistic outings
The Maira Valley is the wildest and most intact valley, rich in beautiful
monuments, of all Saluzzo aerea valleys. A good net of walking paths,
served by stops, are recommended for the tourists.
In the vicinity of Villar, one finds the nature reserve RISERVA NATURALE
DEI CICIU DEL VILLAR, a geological phenomenon, thousands of years old,

Continuing on for the town of Dronero, at 3 km., without entering the
village, you take a right onto a road of which only the first part is
paved. This road leads to the old sanctuary Santa Maria Delibera (XI-XIX
century), continuing on you will find the sanctuary SANTUARIO DI SAN COSTANZO
AL MONTE (VIII-XII century), where the beautiful roman interior, hosts
a crypt that once contained the remains of the martyr Costanzo.
Dronero is definitely worth a walk through the old downtown area, to see
the beautiful old bridge crossing the Maira River, 1428, from which one
has a stupendous view, the gothic church of the saints Andrea and Ponzio,
with the marble portals, sculpted by the Zabreri sculptors (1461), the
3rd century FORO FRUMENTARIO, an octagonal very early grain market, the
MALLE Museum, started by a Belgian painter, hosting a collection from
the antique masters, the piazzas, the typical Italian coffee bars, the
beautiful buildings that give this town an elegant appearance.
From Dronero, one can follow the main road that leads all the way to the
end of the Maira Valley, about 45 km. This beautiful tour will astonish
you every turn you take. Every village is worth a visit since they all
have beautiful churches, that bear wonderful wall paintings etc. From
the main road one can take turns, some of which lead to other valleys
through tunnels or mountain passes, or that lead to other mountain villages.
Skiing and other winter activities
Cross country:
A 50 km track is situated between Prazzo and Chiappera, this is in the
Maira Valley, in the other surrounding valleys there are also many possibilities.
Snowrackets:
These rackets still today bring on a sense of adventure throughout the
whole Maira Valley.
Alpinism:
Over 60 itineraries to follow on skis along a valley that offers beautiful
scenery.
Down-Hill:
Limone, 40 km from the camping, is THE ski center of the region.
Fishing
One can fish in the following communities: Acceglio, Prazzo, Stroppo,
Macra, Cartignano and San Damiano, Tel. 0171-917080.
Dronero:
Maira rivier, Rii Moschieres en Piossasco: a comunity fishing spot, under
supervision of the Società Pescasportiva Val Maira.
How to partecipate:
One is granted access to the fishing spots through authorization by the
owner by paying the annul fees, or by buying a fishing pass valid for
one or more days, depending on the owners. It is mandatory to have a fishing
pass.
